New Year's Children's Celebration
Aya Project hosted a New Year's children’s celebration at “La Maison Padre Pio”, orphanage. It was a such a fun event! We started off the day with our American style luncheon. Maddy and Carrie with the help of the staff at the home made delicious peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches and mac & cheese. The kids had mixed reviews about peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches! But really enjoyed our juice boxes and extra cookies. The children in this home don't often get extra treats so it was so nice to bring them just a little something extra. After lunch we played a great game of twister and balloon toss and just ran and ran and enjoyed each others company and burn off those extra cookies. Thanks to our wonderful sponsors that donated to our celebration each child received a new back pack, school supplies, new toothbrush toothpaste, washcloths, and a toy! Watching them open the bags was something I will never forget. They carefully opened the bags looked inside and then closed it up really quick and then would peek again at what was inside. We had a wonderful afternoon and are looking forward to hosting more events like this in July!
