African Black Soap
Our black soap is handmade in Yamoussoukro. AYA Project Black soap is made in the traditional way and contains plantain skins, cocoa pods, shea tree bark, and palm leaves. The local ingredients are collected and dried in the sun and then roasted until it turns into ash. Once the ash is ready water is added as well as palm oil, coconut oil, and shea butter. The mixture is heated and hand-stirred for at least 24 hours and then the soap cures for at least 2 weeks. Black soap is very labor-intensive but the results are an amazing healing soap. Black soap is a wonderful natural skin cleanser and will clean your face without stripping oils from your skin. Our black soap is unprocessed and raw which means that you may see fine particles of vegetative matter inside (that’s the good stuff) which makes our soap a gentle exfoliator. Black soap is wonderful for acne-prone skin and helps to balance the skin’s ph level and calm inflamed and irritated skin. Give our black soap a try you are going to love it!
